Pearlescent Decorative Finish

Pearlescent Decorative Finish is a type of top coat interior effect paint, similar to metallic and glitter paints, named for the pearlescent pigments it contains.

Application

Before applying pearlescent paint, surface preparation is crucial. The wall must be smooth and clean, which can be achieved using putty or sandpaper, followed by a primer application.

Pearlescent paint serves as the top coat finishing paint, and it is recommended to use a water-based undercoat or primer.

Upon opening the paint can, thoroughly mix the paint with a spatula to ensure it is homogeneous due to its dense consistency. For those inexperienced in painting, it's advisable to practice on a small surface to get accustomed to the technique and pattern creation.

To prevent splatters, use a floor cover and masking tape for neat edges. The method and tools for application vary based on the desired effect. If no effect is needed and only the pearlescent paint is applied, use a roller or brush to apply the paint from top to bottom without moving back and forth, ensuring a homogeneous texture.

For patterning, a dry, plain painted surface can be enhanced with pearlescent paint in the same or a different color using an effect buffer or sponge.

Alternatively, apply the pearlescent paint and while it's still wet, create patterns with an effect buffer or sponge.

For large surfaces, two people can work together, with one applying the paint and the other shaping it before it dries.
